18th Century Pear Shaped Bass Violin

Pear shaped bass violin of Spanish origin circa 1740. Large 3/4 size. Each rib is a continuous piece of poplar, joined at the top and bottom blocks. Big, ringing, open sound. This bass bears a repair label of Giuseppe Tarrantino, and a facsimile label of Carlo Antonio Testore. The neck and scroll are not original, and were probably replaced by Tarrantino. String length is 42."
